The Luchtsingel

The Luchtsingel is a wooden pedestrian bridge of 390 meters that connects Rotterdam North and Rotterdam Center. The project aims to bring new life to a forgotten area that has been dominated by vacancy and neglect for many years. The bridge is a vital lifeline and catalyst for economic growth and connects the central station to Noord and between Noord and Binnenrotte. In addition to the bridge, the project also includes the DakAkker, a public area on the former Hofplein station, and a park near Pompenburg. The DakAkker is the first harvestable roof in the Randstad where vegetables, fruit and herbs are grown and bees are kept. The public roof on the former Hofplein station offers space for events and small-scale initiatives, while the Pompenburg park will become an urban park with various functions, such as recreation, urban agriculture, sports and picnic areas. Together, these projects form an important link in the Luchtsingel project and will contribute to a positive business climate for entrepreneurs in and around the Hofbogen.
