The foundation 'InterChurch Action Hospital Under Construction' was founded and money was raised to build the hospital. This gave rise to the name Ikazia. It was officially opened in 1968 and the support of the 'Foundation Friends of Ikazia' has helped the hospital over the years with patient-oriented matters that cannot be paid for from regular budgets.

Ikazia's core values, based on the Protestant Christian identity, are of great importance to the organization.
