Havenziekenhuis Rotterdam

 

The Havenziekenhuis, later known as the Havenpolikliniek, was a beacon of healthcare and well-being for Rotterdam residents for many years. It was a place where people came for medical care, hope and recovery. However, like the fate of many iconic institutions, the Haven Hospital underwent changes and ultimately its closure.

The Rotterdam Balloon Company had the honor of being involved in special occasions, such as the Opening of new departments or the acquisition of advanced medical equipment. These moments of celebration were graced with colorful balloons that brought a smile to the faces of patients and staff. It was a way to emphasize the ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of the community.

However, the Rotterdam Balloon Company went further than just celebrations. They also delivered balloons to patients in the hospital, with the aim of encouraging them during their healing process. A simple but loving gesture, such as a balloon with an uplifting message, could make a world of difference to those in need of medical care.

Unfortunately, it is a thing of the past for the Harbor Hospital and the Harbor Outpatient Clinic. The closure of the hospital in 2017 marked the end of ninety years of history. The Havenziekenhuis, which was once an important part of Rotterdam's healthcare system, had to close its doors due to limited capacity and financial challenges.

In response to these changes, four Rotterdam hospitals, including Erasmus MC, Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland, Maasstad Hospital and IJsselland Hospital, decided to collaborate and continue outpatient care. Although the Havenziekenhuis is now just a memory, the commitment to the health and well-being of the Rotterdam community continues to live on in these new healthcare initiatives. The colorful balloons of the Rotterdam Balloon Company will always remain a symbol of the joy and positive moments that the hospital once offered.
