Grounded in a rich history Dating back to 1954, when the first pastor was appointed, the Danish Seamen's Church has its roots firmly anchored in Rotterdam. After years of cohabiting with the Swedish church, the Danish community celebrated a milestone in 1970 with the inauguration of their own church building, a symbolic recognition of Rotterdam as a leading world port.

On Store Bededag 1970, in the royal presence of both the Danish King Frederik the 9th and the Dutch Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard, the solemn dedication took place, the starting point of a new era of service and connection.
