Blaak Rotterdam

 

De Blaak in Rotterdam is a vibrant and versatile area where you can tick all kinds of nice places off your list in one fell swoop. As the Rotterdam Balloon Company, we ensure that when there is something to celebrate at one of the many hotspots on or near the Blaak, the festive spirit is increased with colorful balloons.

One of the most iconic sights on Blaak is the Markthal. This striking building, with its unique architecture, is the first thing you see when you walk among the cube houses or leave the metro or train station. The outside of the Markthal is already impressive, but inside you will find dozens of stalls with delicious street food and a breathtakingly decorated ceiling that is also called the Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam.

Directly in front of the Markthal you will find the Binnenrotte Markt, the largest market in the Netherlands, which takes place every Tuesday and Saturday. Here you can find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to fish, cheese, flowers, clothing and much more.

Another striking sight are the cube houses, which appear to be balancing on their corners. These unique architectural creations house homes and business spaces. You can even visit a Kijkcube to admire the interior, or you can spend a night at the Stayokay hostel.

Near the Binnenrotte you will find the Rotterdam library, where you can read, learn, work and participate in interesting courses and workshops. The Bistrobar is located on the roof terrace of the library, where you can enjoy delicious food and a fantastic view.

For culinary adventures you can go to Madam Chen, where you can enjoy cocktails and Asian street food, and Baek, where many say you will find the tastiest hamburger in Rotterdam. In addition, there is an Asian supermarket, Wah Nam Hong, in the middle of the Market Hall, where you can find everything you need for Asian dishes.

The green area next to the Markthal offers a place to relax in the heart of the city, where you can enjoy a fresh smoothie or fries from Bram Ladage. And if you follow the road from Blaak station, you will arrive at Westblaak, an area full of nice restaurants, lunch spots, the Cinerama cinema and much more.
