Based on how often we have to decorate a hotel room with balloons for a marriage proposal or simply for a romantic overnight stay in Rotterdam, we’ve developed a good sense of which hotels in Rotterdam are most popular among couples and soon-to-be-married couples. We also know that having a jacuzzi in the room and/or a breathtaking view are the main requirements for a romantic hotel stay, which is why the following top 10 is based on these factors. In most hotel rooms, we’ve personally stayed (privately) and experienced the romance. But for our work, of course, we also visit the most beautiful and romantic rooms, and we are happy to share those experiences with you.

NHOW Hotel

The 4-star NHOW Hotel on the Kop van Zuid is undoubtedly the most romantic hotel in Rotterdam. We come here most often to decorate hotel rooms with our balloons, especially the rooms with skyline views and spectacular views through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Erasmus Bridge, one of Rotterdam's most photographed spots. A marriage proposal with the Erasmus Bridge in the background is, in our opinion, the most romantic marriage proposal in Rotterdam. And if you want to go all out for your proposal, book the NHOW suite by Rem Koolhaas. These suites are located on the top floors of the hotel and offer the most fantastic views of the Erasmus Bridge.

Inntel Hotel

We also frequently come for a marriage proposal on the opposite side of the Maas at the 4-star Inntel Hotel. The Panorama Top Room of this hotel also offers a breathtaking view over the water, the skyline of Rotterdam, and the Erasmus Bridge, with even the Euromast in the distance. The most luxurious and romantic room at the Inntel Hotel is the Panorama Junior Suite. This suite has a private sauna, separate rain shower, and a whirlpool in the bathroom and is the most spacious suite in the hotel. We stayed in room 810 ourselves, and this room—at the corner of the hotel—guarantees the best view that Rotterdam has to offer. In the morning, you can have breakfast together right by the water, at Rotterdam's oldest harbor. Ideal for a marriage proposal!

Mainport Hotel

Right next to the Inntel Hotel (they share the same entrance) is the 5-star Mainport Design Hotel. And because the Inntel Hotel is in between, the Mainport Hotel doesn’t have rooms with views of the Erasmus Bridge. However, we often come here with balloons for a marriage proposal, especially in the Waterfront Spa Room. All rooms in this hotel have a whirlpool, but the Waterfront Spa Room has a colossal round whirlpool in front of the window. From this two-person bubble bath, you have a breathtaking view of the old harbor and the skyline of Rotterdam.

Hotel New York

The Wilhelminapier on the Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam has developed into one of the most beautiful spots in the city, with the eye-catcher Hotel New York, housed in the beautiful former headquarters of the Holland America Line. The building has high ceilings and is full of authentic details that harken back to the Holland America Line era. The Executive Suite has a working fireplace in the room, and room 105 also has a two-person bath by the window so that you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Maas and the skyline of Rotterdam together.

Euromast

Want to make an original proposal with an overnight stay you'll never forget? Then book one of the two suites in the Euromast. It’s immediately the most expensive hotel room on our list of the most romantic hotels in Rotterdam, but you’ll stay 100 meters high in a unique suite with the highest balcony in Rotterdam. It’s clear that the view from your bed is phenomenal. Visitors to the Euromast can walk across your balcony and look inside until 10:00 PM, but after that, you have all the privacy to enjoy the spectacular view from your jacuzzi (only in the Stars Suite) or from your private balcony. Romance guaranteed! Please note! Helium-filled balloon decorations are not allowed anywhere in the Euromast, so we only use air-filled balloon decorations at this location.

Pincoffs Hotel

The ultimate romantic 4-star Suite Hotel Pincoffs is made for a night full of romance! The hotel is housed in a beautiful national monument on the Kop van Zuid, one of the most beautiful spots in Rotterdam. The suites in the hotel are very luxurious and extremely romantic. The XL suites even have a two-person bath with a fantastic view of the Maas, the Erasmus Bridge, and the skyline of Rotterdam. The trendy four-star Bruno Room Mate Hotel is the third hotel on the Wilhelminapier. The hotel is housed in a former tea warehouse of the Dutch East India Company and has now been transformed into an accommodation that is a feast for the eyes. Immerse yourself in luxury and design in the blue and red suite (and by that, we mean really blue and really red!) where everything has been thought of. The suites have a double rain shower, a two-person bath, and a private terrace where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor and the city in the evening—weather permitting.

SS Rotterdam

Proposing on a cruise ship, how romantic is that? It’s possible on the SS Rotterdam. This former cruise ship belonged to the Holland-America Line but has now been transformed into a special 4-star hotel and is permanently moored in the Maashaven on Katendrecht, on the edge of the city center. The entire ship is furnished in a 1950s style. You stay in an authentic hotel room equipped with all modern amenities and experience what it was like for guests on the first crossing to New York in 1959. The portholes offer a beautiful view of the harbor and the skyline of Rotterdam.

When we are asked to come to the Bilderberg Parkhotel to decorate a hotel room with balloons for a marriage proposal, it is often in one of the higher rooms in the tower section of the hotel. These more luxurious rooms have a breathtaking view of the Rotterdam skyline.

The James Hotel

Last but not least... The James... the only 3-star hotel in the top 10 (but a 3+), a skyscraper in the center of Rotterdam between the bustling streets such as the Coolsingel, the Meent, and the Lijnbaan. When you hear the name James, you might think of a butler, and that's exactly what they do in this hotel... take good care of you. The rooms are soundproof, and the view of the city is fantastic. Be sure to book the Junior Suite or James Favorite Room 1604 to guarantee this view.

Bonus 1: van der Valk Ridderkerk

Okay, not the best view of all, and not even in Rotterdam. But the van der Valk Hotel Ridderkerk is ideally located on the A15 highway, on the outskirts of Rotterdam, and the prices for a romantic overnight stay are also much lower than those of the hotels in the city. And that’s why the Junior Suite is definitely worth mentioning. What makes this room so special is the luxurious bathroom. The bathroom has a large massage shower and a two-person jacuzzi where you can lie side by side and watch TV. That means long, relaxing soaks in a warm bath with a bottle of bubbly and a romantic movie.

The Delta Hotel Vlaardingen is a 15-minute drive from Rotterdam and must be included in this list because of the Red Roses Suite.
