At Globos Balloons you can buy a disposable helium tank that we can send to you by normal post and that you can simply throw away after use. So no hassle with a deposit or having to pick it up later.
By post
The helium tank is simply sent by parcel post and delivered to your home by the postman. And if you are not at home, the helium tank will be delivered to your neighbors or you can pick it up at a collection point near you. Just like any other package you order online and delivered with PostNL.
Discard after use
If the helium tank is completely empty, you can simply put it in the trash or take it to the municipal yard and hand it in with the scrap metal.
No deposit
You do not have to pay a deposit for this helium tank. We also no longer collect the helium tank. After use - when the helium tank is completely empty - discard as described above.
The helium tank cannot be returned!
Because we cannot check whether a helium tank has been used, we cannot accept returns.
How does it work?
The tank has a rubber filling spout. Or it is already screwed onto the helium tank, otherwise you would have to screw it on (clockwise). The helium tank is then ready for use.
- Open the tap on top (turn to the left)
- Slide the balloon around the filling nozzle and press the filling nozzle down so that the helium is blown into the balloon.
- Release the filling nozzle to stop and stop when the balloon has a nice shape (not a pear shape because then the balloon is too full).
- Finished filling but the tank is not empty yet? Simply close the tap (turn clockwise) and store the tank for the next occasion.
Tip! Clamp the balloon firmly around the filling mouth so that helium does not leak during filling. Otherwise it's a waste of wasted helium and you can fill fewer balloons with the tank.
How many balloons can you fill with 1 tank?
At Globos you can buy 2 types of helium tanks namely a small one for 39.95 euros and a larger one for 49.95 euros incl. VAT.
The small helium tank contains 0.25m3 of helium and the large one contains 0.42m3, so you can use it respectively. Fill 30 and 50 balloons with helium. Please note! The manufacturer talks about balloons of 9 inches (23cm) and these are smaller balloons than usual. The standard size for balloons as you see at McDonalds, for example, and which we also sell at Balloon articles .NL have a diameter of 30 to 33 centimeters and you can fill approximately 20 balloons with the small tank and 28-30 balloons with the large tank.
The larger the balloon, the more helium it contains and the less you can fill with a tank. If you know that the small tank contains 0.25m3 of helium and the large tank contains 0.42m3, you can use the Qualatex Helium Chart, find how much helium goes into other common types and sizes of balloons.
How long do helium balloons float?
The following also applies here: The larger the balloon, the more helium it contains and the longer the balloon will float. You can also use the Qualatex Helium Chart for this because it also says behind each balloon the floating time. But a standard balloon of 30 to 33cm will float for at least 12 - 14 hours. Therefore, only fill the balloons with helium as late as possible on the day itself. If the balloons need to float longer, insert a pinhead HI-FLOAT and massage this on the inside of the balloon before filling it with helium. A standard balloon can float for up to a week.
99.9% Pure Helium
The helium in these disposable helium tanks is 99.9% pure helium. This means that the helium is not mixed with air, so the helium balloons do not come down prematurely, but the longest possible floating time is achieved.
Which balloons are suitable for helium?
If you buy latex balloons yourself, make sure they are at least 23cm in diameter. Smaller than 23cm there is not enough helium in it and the balloon will not float. Is there an image or text on the balloon? Make sure that it is legible when the filling spout of the balloon is pointed downwards. The packaging of a foil balloon (such a metal-like balloon that you also see in hospitals or at Schiphol) often indicates whether it is suitable for helium. When in doubtyou can always email us a photo of the balloon.
Having Globos fill helium balloons is often cheaper
If you prefer to have us fill the balloons, it is often cheaper because we charge 1.20 euros to fill a standard latex balloon with helium and attach a ribbon. Filling 30 helium balloons would therefore cost 30 euros incl. VAT, balloon, helium and ribbon. Please feel free to contact contact to discuss the options.
Breathing helium
In principle, swallowing helium - to get that Donald Duck voice - is harmless, but anything that says 'too' is not good. So don't do this too often because where there is helium in the lungs, there can be no oxygen and so you can become unconscious or even suffocate. If you are considering inhaling helium, NEVER do so directly from the tank but from the balloon. The pressure in the tank is too high and metal particles may come with it.
